19 Broadway Bar and Night Club Presents...Roots Reggae from St Croix, Midnite!

Midnite blends the cultural lyrics of "old school" roots music with modern day experiences to create a unique listening encounter. Roots reggae is a subgenre of reggae that deals with the everyday lives and aspirations of the artists concerned, a Midnite's musical style, no frills of extensive remixes and overdubbing.

Their debut album, “Unpolished” includes such classics as “Love the Life You Live”, “Mama Africa” and “Don’t Move”.  In 1999, Midnite worked with with Wildchild! Records for their second album, "Ras Mek Peace". Amazingly, this album was recorded using only two channels and was mastered with no reverb, compression, filtering or equalization.

Following the release of the second album, Midnite returned to St. Croix so that they could work with the local musicians and make recordings at their African Roots Lab without any outside interference. This hailed the release of their third album titled "Jubilees of Zion", released on their independent Afrikan Roots Lab record label.

In their quest to break all the rules and produce a unique sound that is on the cutting edge of modern roots music,  Midnite made their Northern California debut (June 2002) at the 9th Annual Sierra Nevada World Music Festival. On the same month, they have successfully released their fourth album "Seek Knowledge Before Vengeance” again, released under Afrikan Roots Lab record label.

Facebook...Good or Bad for Your Business??

Im wondering if 19 should follow the easiest path and buy talent that is in demand by many 21 to 30 year old marinites and continue with the ability to provide in the form of jobs and taxes vs trying to compete with the Terrapins and Sweetwaters who book everything but what we book. Thats whats really and truly on my mind. Im thinking out load.

  • Chris Spadaro It's been feeling like a bad high school talent show lately

  • Douglas Rhiner ^^^^^ SPOT ON!
  • Ryan Koontz I'd like to see more up and coming out of town talent at 19. TXR exclusively books local and visiting "well established and known" talent. SW books mostly AOR and local bands with an older demo. That leaves a great opening for 19 to target a more youthful and higher energy demographic which should span far beyond hip hop to reggae, alternative, performer EDM, and other genres.

I also think you can raise the bar by simply fixing the bathroom plumbing!
  • Hayes Walsh Every show at 19 should cost half what y'all charge

  • 19 Broadway Bar & Night Club Ryan Neal our March & April bookings have much more diversity, including rock, bluegrass, and live band conscious hip-hop ONLY (e.g. Zion I, Kev Choice, Goapale, Cole Tate, English Beat, Whisky Sisters (formally The Mother Truckers). Thanks for your suggestion.

  • 19 Broadway Bar & Night Club Chris Spadaro: You must not come out much. Kore Tuesday is the hottest night of the week in Marin with the best musicians in Marin...Including @ Danny Uzilvesky, Jonathan KortyDana Miller MusicTommy Odetto, Tim Baker, Jeff & Ryan Scott, just to name a few. Coming up we have Grahame LeshHyroglifics, @LutanFyah. So Chris...high school talent!?! A little harsh.. you must have also missed the @QueenIfrica and @TonyRebel Show and @HotButteredRum, in the same night. Hardly high school...check your facts before commenting PLEASE
  • 19 Broadway Bar & Night Club Chris SpadaroCambo & The Life is one of our dear friends... We book him every time he is in town.
  • 19 Broadway Bar & Night Club Ryan Koontz: Unfortunately 19 Broadway Bar & Night Club does not have the multimillion dollar funding that Sweetwater Music Hall andTerrapin Crossroads has. Fortunately, our young owner studied construction management and Business/Marketing at Chico State University. We are currently in the bidding process, and about to undergo a massive and costly plumbing and construction remodel. As you can imagine, we have to divert all of our funds to these immediate issues, which will result in eliminating the odor that's often misconceived as dirty carpets. All the floors will be leveled out, and the pee trap in the mens bathroom will replaced with a new urinal, plus many more improvements.
  • 19 Broadway Bar & Night Club Hayes Walsh: You clearly don't understand the music business and what it takes to run a nightclub with international artists frequenting our venue. Come on down and we can teach you a lesson on what it takes to run business, and disclose to you how much these bands costs us (e.g.: airfare, hospitality, back-line, back-end, and busted guarantees). We do it for the love of music. Money and comes and goes, a family sticks together, and we have a solid family in our day and night regulars. Any favor asked is a favor that will be done.
  • 19 Broadway Bar & Night Club Danny Herrera I'm sorry that you were not contacted. There is no excuse for that. We will do better next time. Feel free to call out office at 485-0375. We brought in a superstar fulltime employee, Marketing/PR Director, and Assistant Talent Buyer...DBA MakLuv.
  • 19 Broadway Bar & Night Club And yes, we may not have a million dollar sound system.. but we are doing whatever we can to have the best sound quality we can with improvements to our equipment. ATTENTION: WE DO ACCEPT DONATIONS.
  • Chris Spadaro Aight, deal. I'll check those.
